His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 751

The car had barely rolled a few blocks when Evadne’s face turned stormy, her fists clenched, still marked with the shadows of the man’s kisses, and she started hammering at Thaddeus‘ chest.

“Evadne, take it easy, or you’ll hurt your hand,” Thaddeus‘ voice quivered under her blows.

Jason, driving, couldn’t help but let out a chuckle as he stole a glance in the rearview mirror.

“Thaddeus.” Evadne’s finger–jabbed into his firm pecs, her voice thick with anger, “Did you know about Marilla’s arranged marriage with the Bartley family?” NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

Thaddeus‘ eyes narrowed as he caught her hand, “Evadne, how did you find out?”

“How I found out? Half of Elmsworth must be buzzing with the news by now!” Evadne recounted everything

Arnold had told her.

“Damn it!”

In his fury, Thaddeus‘ fist slammed against the car window, “By leaking this news, the Bartley family are forcing Frederic to rush into sealing the deal with them!”

“They can dream on! In this day and age, who forces anyone into marriage?” Evadne bit her lip, “As long as Marilla is unwilling, it doesn’t matter if it’s Mr. Bartley or the President himself – no one’s laying a finger on her!” “But, Marilla has agreed.”

“What?! Why!” Evadne and Jason exclaimed in unison.

“She said she’s too exhausted to be with Jareth.”

Evadne blurted out, “Lies!”

“She said that being with Jareth only brings him and Lily trouble, and she didn’t want to be a burden to the ones she loves.”

“Then she should just leave Jareth; why on earth marry Alston?”

Evadne’s eyes were suspicious, “Did Mr. Frederic Abernathy pressure her, tell her something?”

Thaddeus, after a moment of contemplation, his voice hoarse, “That day, in front of Marilla, Frederic and I had a falling out over the Bartley marriage.”

“Probably scared Marilla.”

Bang! Now it was Evadne’s furn to bang on the window. Thankfully, the luxury car held up against the couple’s

venting.

“Marilla’s doing this to protect you!”

Evadne’s eyes reddened, her breath tight with pain, “She’s afraid Frederic will hold a grudge against you, that he’ll retaliate, strip away everything you’ve worked hard for!

She’s so delicate and innocent. There’s no other way to protect you, the only way she knows how is to sacrifice her own happiness, to shield her beloved brother!”

“Marilla, why must she be so foolish?” Thaddeus shook his head, his heart tearing, “We can’t let her marry Alston. Absolutely not!”

Evadne swore colorfully, her teeth clenched, “Darn it! To hell with letting Marilla marry that blockhead – she might as well be my sister–in–law! Keep it in the family!”

Thaddeus pressed his lips together, “Evadne, is there still a chance for Jareth and Marilla?”

“I don’t know. Matters of the heart are the most elusive.”

Evadne nestled into Thaddeus‘ arms, heaving a sigh, “The road for Marilla and Jareth may not be as clear as ours was. Let’s deal with the trouble at hand first.”

The day after Barry struck a deal with Jareth, Gary’s dismissal notice was sent at lightning speed to every inbox within the Fairhaven Group.

Stripped of all duties and titles; no longer would he be more than a layabout in society. Aside from the annual dividends from his shares in the Fairhaven Group, he was disconnected from all its affairs.

Tonight, in a foul mood, Gary called up his cronies and headed to Elmsworth’s notorious den of sin, the Velvet Haven, to drown his sorrows.

After some bottles of cheap booze, Gary was cursing Barry in a private room – calling him a two–faced, cunning fox who would betray anyone for his own gain!

All others could do was to gently persuade him, reminding him that as long as he had his shares, he was still a major stakeholder in the Fairhaven Group, and his return to power, and his vengeance on Jareth, was just a matter of time.

“I heard that there’s this bombshell Ms. Archer here, who’s a real knockout! Bring her out to drink with me!” Gary slurred to the manager.

“Mr. Fairhaven, I apologize.” The manager smiled politely, “Ms. Archer only entertains distinguished guests. You, I’m afraid, might not meet her.”

Gary’s eyes bulged with rage, “What the hell are you talking about! If I’m not a VIP, who is?!”

“You were just dismissed today, weren’t you?”

“You!” Gary, humiliated, realized just how quickly news traveled within the Velvet Haven.

“The last guy who made a scene here like you didn’t end up too well. We may cover the medical expenses at the Velvet Haven, but a broken body is one thing; losing face is another, right?”

“Who was it?!”

“Matthew Chambers.”

Gary was left speechless. Damn it, truly a fallen phoenix was not as good as a chicken, a tiger that fell flat was teased by dogs!

Meanwhile, in the security room, Elsie kept a watchful eye on Gary’s room. Just then, an underling rushed in, “Ms. Archer, another guest has arrived; their car’s entered the underground parking.”

Elsie asked nonchalantly, “Who?”

“Mr. Jareth Fairhaven, CEO of the Fairhaven Group.”
