Don't Try to Escape, My Wife!

Chapter 1825: We Are Brothers

Chapter 1825: We Are Brothers

Julian choked.

There was no way to argue back when Joseph got back at him using his own words.

“So you still refuse to operate on my son, Dr. Green?”

“Negative.”

That gave Julian hope. But Joseph whispered, “I just told you my bottom line. You are a smart guy, Mr.

Farley, I am sure you know what to do.”

Julian went in complete silence.

Joseph figured what was going on in Julian’s mind at the moment so he didn’t push it. Joseph Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

continued in his lowered voice, “Even if I saved your son, do you really think he would be able to get

away the influence of what you and Mr. Frye have done and grow up healthily? Perhaps it wasn’t a bad

thing at all for your son to die at a young age. At least he won’t know anything, neither will he have to

put up with judgemental gossips behind his back all his life. How could he survive if Mr. Frye and you

were behind bars?”

Joseph’s words were a bit harsh. Julian frowned in deep concern.

Joseph wasn’t urging him to make a decision now. He just said lightly, “Mr. Farley, go back and sleep

on it. I can wait, but I can’t say for sure that your son can. Now please, see yourself out. I am taking a

rest.”

As Joseph was throwing him out, Julian stood up in despair, turned, and walked outside.

It wasn’t that he didn’t know what Joseph was trying to get at, but it was really hard for him to choose

between his father and son.

Mr. Frye didn’t have much affection for Julian, however, blood was thicker than water - He never

thought about sending his biological father to prison by himself.

But what Joseph had said wasn’t wrong. His son was still young, besides, what Mr. Frye and himself

had done might be exposed one day. What would happen to him then?

Julian fell into a dilemma.

Joseph didn’t care about Julian’s struggles. He immediately locked up the door right after Julian went

out and signed a hand gesture towards a direction outside the window.

Lucas told the rest of the team to stand by. He hopped on the balcony by himself and went straight into

Joseph’s bedroom.

Joseph’s beautiful eyes went all smiley as soon as he saw Lucas.

“I can’t believe you’ve found me here.”

“Isn’t this part of your plan?”

Lucas was a little upset. He glanced at Joseph, sat down directly on a chair beside him, and said

funnily, “Fine, Joseph. You are unbelievable! How could you drug me? I won’t trust anything you pass

me from now on.”

“Come on, are you still mad?”

Joseph cracked up, without the slightest feeling of being on the enemy’s site.

Lucas somehow found that look on Joseph’s face annoying.

“Stop that! Get serious! All that giggling won’t get me to forgive you. I am telling you - this isn’t over.”

“What are you going to do then? Beat me up? Bring it in. I won’t fight back.”

Joseph was acting like the nice guy, which made Lucas seem a bit childish.

Lucas wasn’t like this in front of others. He couldn’t help but feel upset thinking that Joseph was hiding

something from him.

What was the relationship between these two?

They were bothers!

But guess what?

Joseph freaking drugged him!

Even though Joseph only did that to protect him. But it was something Lucas could never tolerate!

Lucas was getting even angrier.

“Why would I beat you up? My hands would hurt from doing so and my dear Yasmeen would get

worried.”

“Ahem.”

Lucas suddenly getting all romantic embarrassed Joseph. Joseph awkwardly made a cough and said,

“I won’t leave with you.”

“Are you out of your mind?”

Lucas looked at Joseph, quite confused.

Lucas could tell that the situation had changed even though he couldn’t hear the conversation between

Joseph and Julian just now.

Joseph ignored the gloomy look on Lucas’s face and said in a low voice, “That kid isn’t in good shape.”

“Are you saying that you are not as cold-blooded as you seem? Are you going to save him?”

After all, Lucas knew his big brother well.

Joseph could be the cruel devil for the sake of protecting his family, but he would always have a soft

spot for young children.

Lucas was right. Joseph decided to tell him the truth. He nodded, “Not only am I going to save the kid,

but I also want to figure out what Julian’s decision would be.”

“Are you going to take him down?”

Lucas figured it all out within a blink.

Joseph nodded and said, “There are no other safer plans.”

“What exactly is your identity now?”

Lucas felt conflicted to run investigations on Joseph by himself. That was why he had sent Edison Kidd

to do so.

There was no difficulty for Lucas to investigate someone. But that someone now was his big brother,

his family, and he would hate to use his computer technology on them.

Sending Edison to do it for him was just Lucas’s way of finding himself an excuse. But hearing what

Joseph just said, he was even sure of his speculation - He had to ask Joseph about it.

Joseph was staring at Lucas for quite a while and whispered, “Does my current identity have any

impact on you? I am, and always will be your big brother.”

Lucas got more upset right away.

He really missed the way Joseph was when they were little.

At that time, Joseph would follow him around all day calling him “Boss”. That was so adorable! But now,

Joseph grew out of it and started acting more and more in the way a big brother should be.

“You really are not as cute as when you were little.”

Lucas murmured.

Joseph cracked up.

Joseph remembered how they had met each other for the first time. If it weren’t for Lucas, he might still

be the same mediocre young master. There was no way he would have achieved what he possessed

now.

He walked over, patted Lucas on the shoulder, and said with a smile, “Whether it’s now or before, you

and I are brothers, and we always will be till death do us apart.”

“Are you tactfully telling me not to inquire about your identity?”

Lucas gave him a stare but didn’t ask further.

Joseph looked at him for a long time and said, “I’m with the National Security Bureau.”

Lucas, who thought he could not get any answer, was stunned.

The N.S.B. should hold strict confidentiality measures. Joseph should never expose his true identity to

anyone anywhere, not even to his spouse or other family members. But he was telling Lucas right here,

right now.

Lucas was shocked immediately.

“Are you crazy?”

He quickly covered Joseph’s mouth, and in a passing manner, he checked whether there were

surveillance cameras and bugs too.

Joseph smiled and watched Lucas getting busy. His heart was warm.

This was his younger brother, whom he connected tightly by blood.

No matter what he had done to him, Lucas would always be there for him when his life was hanging by

a thin thread.

Joseph remembered when he was a child, Riley George kidnapped him and Lucas. It was Lucas who

fought Riley to protect him. Lucas ended up with injuries all over then.

Joseph was tearing up a little.

He said in a hoarse voice, “Don’t worry about it. I have checked all around and destroyed all the

surveillance devices. No one should be able to hear or see anything happening here.”

Lucas wasn’t assured. After searching all around, he let out a sigh of relief. When he turned his head

around, he saw Joseph’s smiling eyes. They were gentle and tender, with a sense of indescribable

warmth.

Something dawned on Lucas. He took a step forward to give Joseph a hug and said in a low voice,

“Call me whenever you need me. You are always my elder brother, Joseph.”

“Sure.”

Joseph nodded, and at the same time, he keenly heard the footsteps from outside. He instantly

leveraged his strength to throw Lucas out of the window.

Joseph just knew Lucas was able to land on his feet safely.
